Port Elgin Ontario is a delightful town with a harbour that was purpose-built for recreational sailors and vessels. The town is renowned for its spectacular sunsets. It is a great place for a cruising sailor to stop over.

There are lots of shops along its pleasant streets which can meet most if not all your needs as you cruise the coastline.

The approaches to Port Eligin Ontario are clear regardless of the direction from which you come. Make sure that you stay offshore 2-3 nm as there are a number of charted obstructions. Set a course to the Fl RED marker buoy "VC2". This light marks Logie Rock. From "VC 2". alter course to approximately 130o to pick up "VC 3" which is the head of the buoyed channel into Port Elgin Harbour Marina. Once inside the channel, there are range markers giving a bearing of 109o. Follow this range bearing into the marina.

It is important to watch your course carefully as there is a charted shoal to the north of the channel. The harbour entrance is between 2 seawalls with a Fl GREEN on the north pier and a Fl RED on the south pier.
