Try the Fish Camp and The Bridges

Outdoor dining at Fish Camp

Michigan City, IN, is my home port. The Fish Camp and The Bridges are two great places to eat while here. The Fish Camp, which has indoor and outdoor dining and is the bit more upscale of the two, is adjacent to the public wharf just beyond the entrance to the Outer Basin and across the parking lot from the Coast Guard station. The Bridges, which specializes in Lake Perch and outdoor dining, is a bit farther up Trail Creek. To get there, you have to motor under a street bridge, which opens twice an hour at 0:15 and 0:45 past the hour, and just past a railroad bridge that's most of the time open, but is on a turntable and moves primarily for regularly scheduled Amtrak trains. Even if you catch it wrong, the delays for approaching trains are only about 15 minutes. The Bridges has a number of slips for boat customers and a fun, outdoor vibe.
